Happy Wednesday, fans! I thought today would be a great day to tell you why I think cats are amazing creatures; from the first day I sketched out a cat teaching french lessons on my foreign language homework *to which, I credit the beginning of my cat-artistry...to current day, where I find myself still as enthused to draw and paint cats as I did 14 years ago (yes, I've been painting for that long, and I think I will be doing it for the rest of my life).
So, what is it about cats that inspires me? I think I've always been fascinated by the independent attitude of the feline. I can sit in a room, focus on what I need to get done, (usually painting, blogging, drawing)...my cat does the same, although his work proves much more leisurely. Together, we co-exist peacefully (except for the occasional scratching or chewing on my hair).
All cats have their own purr-sonalities, as any cat-person might say. One thing I love about the custom portraits that I work on is that I am able to hear stories from my clients - their descriptions of their kitty pals, and especially when there are two. I usually remember the portraits and names of the cats by their personality descriptions. From the "chilled" out cats to the highly active, each one makes for a great portrait concept. I try to convey this through my painting.
I welcome you to browse through my gallery and see if you can spot the differences in kitty personality for yourself! It's been a while since I've updated, but I will be adding some current portraits soon.
Over and meow-t!
